Wed. May 17th, 5-8pm: Are you excited about Chuck Porter’s Little Beast Brewing?  Yes?  Join the club.  Never heard of it?  Well, get up to speed!

Little Beast Brewing is brand spanking new to the Portland beer scene, but owner and co-founder, Chuck Porter is a legacy in his own right and this new brewery has been anticipated by beer geeks since the day Mr. Porter left his head brewing position at Logsdon a few years back.  He’s known for mixing cultures and making beautifully nuaced beers with layers of delicate complexities.

At our Farmhouse and Wild Ale Fest in early April we debuted Little Beast on draft and wet our whistle for what’s to come.  Now its your turn!  On Wednesday, May 17th, we’ll be showcasing Bes and Fera, Chuck’s first two beers and having him here to answer any questions you might have about the little wild beasts he’s working with to make his beer so tasty.

Saluting the roots of English brewing, Saraveza will be pouring three beers that highlight Sam Smith’s contribution to today’s craft beer scene.  On Wednesday night, you’ll find Breakside‘s Bergamot ESB, A Grains of Wrath and 54-40 collab an Imperial Chocolate Oatmeal Stout and a cask of Machine House‘s IPA.

The 420 Orgination Story

Saturday, April 15, 2017

The origination of 420 is somewhat up for debate, but the story that seems to float to the top, that appears to have the most legitimacy, is that of the Waldos.  Here it is in a nutshell:

In 1971, the Waldos (a group of high school boys) met regularly at 4:20 pm in the front courtyard of their school (San Rafael High) near a statue of Louis Pasteur.  These treasure hunters would set out in a ‘66 Impala armed with a map and some doobies on a journey to find a secret pot garden near Point Reyes. They never did find the secret garden, but they kept looking.

420 Tappings

Thu. April 20th: This year, on 420 we celebrate all the treasure hunters as well as this national counter culture holiday.  Do you celebrate 420?  If so, do so with us - these beers are for you:

Lagunitas The Waldos’ Special Ale IPA: The dankest and hoppiest beer ever brewed at Lagunitas (was made with the help of the original Waldos for all treasure hunters.)
Coalition Two Flowers IPA: The first commercially produced Cannobid oil (CBD) Hemp infused beer in Oregon.

Tax Day Special: Moonlight’s Death and Taxes

Friday, April 14, 2017

33240683314_f65825ab00_n.jpgTues. April 18th: This Tuesday, we’ll serve up a special tax day tapping featuring one of NoCal’s definitive beers.  Moonlight Brewing‘s “Death and Taxes” Schwartzbier was the original San Francisco black style lager and is in high demand throughout the bay.  It’s one of those beers that only the bars on “the list” have the connections to tap and the people clamor for a taste.  This year, we’re lucky enough to get a shipment of the rare black lager and make a special tax day tapping with it.

This San Fransico-Style Black Lager is deceptively light-bodied and highly drinkable. Drinks like iced coffee with a different effect. 5.0% ABV.

Moonlight Brewing started in Santa Roas, CA in 1992 by owner and brewmaster Brian Hunt. It became the the first microbrewery in the area and has survived for 24 years. While many breweries around the area have grown Moonlight has always remained a small production. This has allowed for the quality of their beers to remain consistent, inspired, balanced, unfiltered and poetic. Leaving nothing to be compromised before it reaches those who seek to find a well brewed beer.
