Suds for Sam Fundraiser

Wednesday, January 20, 2016

All Day Jan 31st

In what is turning out to be quite a weekend for helping people, the day after our Meat Raffle benefiting Street Roots, we will be holding a benefit for Sam Whitehorn. Below is a note from Owner and Publican herself, Sarah:

Calling all Portland people!  Calling all of our Packer family!  We at Saraveza are hoping to help a local and lifelong Packer fan who suffered traumatic brain injuries after he was attacked outside a NW Portland bar last Saturday night.

26-year-old Sam Whitehorn was assaulted presumably for wearing a Packers beanie.  As a result of this senseless attack, Whitehorn has suffered a fractured skull, concussion and brain hemorrhage.  He has already undergone one surgery and there are more to come.

To help with medical bills, we are donating $2 per pint of Wisco, our house beer, and taking donations that will go directly to his GoFundMe account.

We’ll be playing the Pro Bowl at 4 pm and from 7-9pm local old timey string band Maris Otter will be filling Saraveza with good vibes.

So if you have time for a pint, please come on down this Sunday.  Please tell your friends and ask them to tell their friends.

The Hairy Eyeball Test

Lagunitas_HEB_PromoPoster (2)

Wednesday January 13th

Join us and the fun folks from Lagunitas in celebrating the release of one of our favorite seasonals that help us get through the cold winter months. Hairy Eyeball is their barleywine style ale, coming in at 9.4% abv and 56.7 IBU, this barley wine boasts strong notes of caramel, chocolate, roasted oats and hops.

We’re pretty big fans of cellaring beers, and the folks of Lagunitas have some 2010 Hairy Eyeball that’s been hidden away in their stash box. They’ll be here pouring tastes from the 2010 bottles and the 2015 bottles so you can compare them side-by-side! We’ll also have a limited number of the 2015 bottles for sale (not the 2010, sorry!), the new One-Hitter beer “Bitter Oats” and an old classic, Lagunitas IPA on draught.

On draught we’ll have:
Lagunitas IPA
Lagunitas Bitter Oats

In bottles for tasting we’ll have:
2010 Hairy Eyeball
2015 Hairy Eyeball

So come on out and get a couple of hairy balls to put in your mouth! Eyeballs I mean… Hairy Eyeballs in your mouth… wait, that doesn’t sound quite appealing actually… Let me try again…

Come drink some delicious beer with Lagunitas and taste some Hairy Eyeballs!

Ex Novo has got great new cans!

Friday, January 1, 2016

January 9th, 6-9PM

Ex Novo shows us their cans!

Our good buddies at the not-for-profit brewery Ex Novo will be doing their can release celebration here this coming Saturday the 9th! Come on out from 6-9pm and join the Ex Novo crew to celebrate the nice set of cans they have!

See! They look great!

They’re debuting their cans with two of our personal favorite beers from them.

Elliot IPA - 6.6%, 65 IBU
“A tribute to our wonderful neighborhood, this IPA is full of tropical fruit flavors and aroma, and dry hopped with Galaxy, Citra, Centennial & Simcoe.”

The Most Interesting Lager in the World - 5%, 17 IBU
Crisp and refreshing, this Mexican Lager was brewed with Vienna and Pilsner malts with a hint of flaked corn. Don’t fear the lime!

We’ll have two fun offerings from them on draft:

Nevermore Black Barleywine - 12.5%, 60 IBU
Brewed with smoked figs and aged on Forunato #4 cocoa nibs from our friends at Moonstruck Chocolates. Rich and complex with subtle chocolate, smoke and dark fruit.

Psycho Ex IIIPA
A psyched up version of their “Casual Ex” session IPA. This beer clocks in at 10.5% and with 4lbs of hops per barrel, is dank, piney, and fruity. Careful though, I mean we’ve all been through that psycho ex thing before, right?

So come out and party with the always fun Ex Novo crew!
