THURS. AUGUST 27th from 6 to 9PM Saraveza, The Bad Habit Room, Hopworks Urban Brewery, New Belgium Brewing Company & Sierra Nevada Brewing Company host an evening dedicated to sustainability in brewing.

In order for you to enjoy that delicious pint, there are a lot of steps taken that have a profound impact on our planet.  These three pioneering breweries have decided to take this issue to heart and are developing new practices every day to ensure that their product remains of the highest quality with the lowest footprint.

We will have sustainability experts and staff from the breweries on hand to provide information and hear your ideas about what it means to brew on a large scale with a low impact.  We’ll also be pouring samples from cans and will offer the following on draft:

SAVE THE DATE!  SAT.  AUGUST 15TH from 1pm to 9pm & SUN. AUGUST 16TH from 1pm to 8pm Featuring over 30 rotating Double & Some Triple IPAs, Double Bacon BLTs, a Berliner Weisse Oasis & live music, the 6th Annual IIPA Festival will take place at Saraveza, Bottle Shop & Pasty Tavern and neighboring Bad Habit Room on Saturday and Sunday, August 15th & 16th. 

DRAFT LIST: Festival goers will have the opportunity to try unique IIPA Fest beers made by Amnesia Brewing, Block 15 Brewing Co., Coalition Brewing Co., Gigantic Brewing Company, and more!  This year also boasts the release of “Mic Drop”, an Imperial IPA being brewed by the Saraveza crew in collaboration with Breakside Brewery especially for the Fest!  The draft list also includes classics like 21st Amendment “Hop Crisis”, Dogfish Head “120 Minute”, Russian River “Pliny the Elder” &  Oakshire “Glen’s Hop Vice”.  Look for some surprise IIPAs (and even some IIIPAs) from both near and far making their way onto the festival list. Taps will be rotating at Saraveza, Bad Habit Room and in the outdoor seating area on N. Michigan. Advanced ticket purchase is encouraged.

FOOD:To compete with big bold IIPA flavors, we’ve brought back our infamous BBLT (yes that’s double the bacon)! 

LIVE MUSIC:  We’ll be featuring music from NW talents:  Flat Rock Stringband, Voodoo Voltage and our Bad Habit Room’s very own, Rob Bonds.  Full music schedule to follow.

*Breakside Brewery w/Saraveza - “Mic Drop” - The official IIPA of this year’s fest was brewed at Breakside Brewery’s original Dekum location and is Saraveza’s 5th Collaboration brew with Breakside.  This is a hop bomb with Equinox, Chinook & Simcoes added in the boil and is double dry-hopped with Simcoe & Amarillos.  Mics will be dropped!  8.4% ABV, 75 IBUs

Chetco Brewing Company - “Thunder Rock” - IIPA w/citrus, pine & tropical notes, 8% ABV, 100 IBUs

*Coalition Brewing Co. - “Rhizome Cowboy” - Brewed especially for IIPA Fest, this beer knows every crack of the sidewalks of Killingsworth, where hustle’s the name of the game. A sweet malt base of 2-row, Vienna malt, and caramel malt balance hefty hop additions of Columbus, Equinox, and Herkules.  Riding out in a tasting glass in a Double IPA Rodeo, like a Rhizome Cowboy, 9.7% ABV, 101 Calculated IBU

Culmination Brewing - “IIPA” - Millennium, Chinook, Amarillo, Citra & Mosaic hops = yummy!  8%, 80 IBUs

Entrance fee to the festival is $20 which includes a commemorative IIPA Festival glass and 10 drink tickets good for a 4oz sample of beer (some beers are more expensive and cost 2 tickets per sample). Advanced ticket purchase is encouraged.

Parking and Public Transportation Options:
First come, first serve off-street parking is available in PCC Cascade Parking Lots C & D, on either side of the Telephone Exchange Building, located at 1011 N. Killingsworth Street, directly across from Saraveza during festival hours.

#72 & #4 bus lines run right to the Festival/Saraveza and the MAX Yellow line N. Killingsworth stop is just a few blocks away.

TUES. AUGUST 11th from 6 to 9PM Join Goose Island Beer Company, Pink Boots Society & LOLA (Ladies of Lagers & Ales) for a celebration of women in the beer industry!  Our house will be filled with brewers from Goose Island, ladies from both Pink Boots and LOLA and we’ll be raising money for Brewmaster Kerry Thomas (Caldwell)‘s Burn Relief Fund with every pint of Goose Island IPA you purchase 100% of the proceeds will go toward Kerry’s Burn Relief Fund.  A limited amount of GI glassware will be available too!  Flights of the following 4 Goose Island Beers will be available alongside a delicious dessert pasty:

-2014 Bourbon County Stout: Brewed in honor of the 1000th batch their original Clybourn brewpub. A liquid as dark and dense as a black hole with thick foam the color of a bourbon barrel. The nose is an intense mix of charred oak, chocolate, vanilla, caramel and smoke.  14.2% ABV

-2014 Bourbon County Vanilla Rye:  This version features a little twist of aging the stout in Rye Whiskey Barrels with a mix of Mexican and Madagascar vanilla beans.  13.8% ABV

-Gillian: Inspired by an amuse bouche often prepared by the wife of one of their brewers, Gillian brings white pepper, strawberry, and honey to a harmonious blend. Partially aged in wine barrels, this Belgian style farmhouse ale is slightly tart and pleasantly sweet in a refreshingly effervescent body.  9.5% ABV

-Halia:  Halia is a farmhouse ale aged in wine barrels with whole peaches, resulting in bright, effervescent fruit notes in a soft, hazy body that finishes slightly tart and sweet with the pleasant character of ripe, juicy peaches. Literally meaning “remembrance of a loved one” in Hawaiian, Halia was brewed in memory of the dear friend of one of Goose Island’s brewers who loved peaches.  7.5% ABV
