WED. APRIL 15TH at 7PM Join us for a tribute to Samuel Smith featuring IPAs, Pale Ales, ESBs, Porters & Stouts all directly or indirectly influenced by Samuel Smith’s classic brews that include:  India Ale, Oatmeal Stout, Organic Pale Ale, Imperial Stout & Taddy Porter.

Founded in 1758, Samuel Smith’s independent, family-owned brewery was first imported to America by Merchant du Vin Specialty Beer Importers back in 1978, and was largely responsible for spearheading the US craft beer movement.  Please join us in celebrating the invaluable role this iconic British brewery has played in the craft beer revolution.

Here are a few of the brewers & breweries who will be bringing us their finest to raise a glass in tribute:

Try the originals alongside their unique US counterparts.  A line up and all-star cast like this will be one for the history books.

Samuel Smith brews at the Old Brewery, Tadcaster, established in 1758 – it is Yorkshire’s oldest brewery.  Traditional methods of brewing have been retained at The Old Brewery.  The brewery still has its own cooper making and repairing all its oak casks; all Samuel Smith’s naturally conditioned draught beer is hand-pulled from oak casks.

The Samuel Smith’s ales you will enjoy at Saraveza are fermented in stone “Yorkshire squares” - fermenting vessels made of solid slabs of slate - which give the beers a fuller-bodied taste, using the same strain of yeast since the 19th century.

All Samuel Smith’s beers are brewed solely from authentic natural ingredients without any chemical additives, raw material adjuncts, artificial sweeteners, colorings, flavorings or preservatives.

-Chaos Reigns
-Devils Kriek
-Eight and Easy Common Ale
-First Crack Coffee Porter

After surfing the web for months, Matt Swihart found a 1950 one ton Chevy panel van in Las Vegas. Branded “Mountain Pool and Lawn Service” with a Vegas phone number, Matt took a little paint to the van. He matched the old ‘50s logo and drilled holes on the side for beer taps and voila, the “Double Mountain Pool of Beer Service” was born! In 2014, Double Mountain replaced the stock motor and running gear with the remnants of a ‘94 chevy suburban and now it rolls quite nicely and comfortable at highway speeds. That said, the “Double Mountain Pool of Beer Service” is able to visit Portland and make its Saraveza debut.

We’ll take over the sidewalk, play some cornhole, give away tons of swag and drink to the mountains!

Double Mountain Brewery and Taproom was established in 2007 in the heart of downtown Hood River, OR. Founders Matt Swihart and Charlie Devereux opened the brewery with a clear mission: make great beer for craft beer fans. Double Mountain Brewery’s unique location lends to not only using pure and clean glacial water for their beers, but they also take advantage of regionally grown hops. Double Mountain Brewery and Taproom’s unfiltered and long-aged beers deliver maximum flavor and character. They can be found on tap and in bottles throughout the Pacific Northwest and Southern California.

THURS APRIL 9TH from 6 to 9PM members of the Pfriem Family Brewers will be at Saraveza to celebrate their bottles hitting our shelves next week!  There will be bottle samples pouring, bottles for sale and we’ll also have delicious Pfriem beers on draft!

IPA - When the first Pale Ales were sailed around the Cape to arrive in India in the early 18th century, outcries of “Zounds! Jolly good! and Huzzah!” were heard across the East Indian subcontinent. Similar exclamations are to be expected when sniffing the piney aroma and tasting the big hops, huge citrus and candy-like malt of Pfriem’s own IPA. Drink up, Guv’nor. 7.2% ABV, 65 IBUs

Pilsner - The story of a pilsner starts in 19th century Bohemia when a Bavarian monk smuggled a special yeast to a brewmaster in Pilsen.  The story of pFriem Pilsner starts in the Pacific Northwest where it acquires the aroma of fresh grass and flowers and a touch of honey.  While there are no monks involved in this pilsner, there is still a crisp and spicy finish.  4.9% ABV, 38 IBUs

Little Saison - A light, yet flavorful sessionable Wallonian/French style saison.  4.5% ABV, 24 IBUs
