Friday, January 30, 2015

meat_raffle_poster_2015It’s back! Join us for our seventh annual charity Meat Raffle, our homage to the legendary ‘Sconnie winter tradition of hunters and farmers donating meats to raise funds for those in need. Here at Saraveza, select meat purveyors take on the role of Wisconsin’s hunters and farmers, and this year we have chosen local non-profit Street Roots as our beneficiary.

Friday, February 6th: We will be raffling mouth-watering cuts from Wisconsin’s Nueske’s, Portland’s Chop, and Nicky USA, as well as Saraveza’s own handmade smoked sausages and bacon. We will also be featuring beers from Ninkasi Brewing throughout the raffle. $2 tickets enter you for a chance to win yummy meats and awesome beer schwag!

100% of proceeds will benefit Street Roots, an organization that since 1998 has worked to create income opportunities for people experiencing homelessness and poverty by producing a newspaper and other media that are catalysts for individual and social change. Join Saraveza and Street Roots and win big for a great cause!

BREAKSIDE & FAT HEAD’S ‘JUGGLING PLUMS’ SALTED PLUM GOSE RELEASE!

Thursday, January 1, 2015

WED. JAN. 14TH FROM 6 to 9PM To kick off 2015, Breakside & Fat Head’s Breweries have brewed a draft-only collaboration, “Juggling Plums”, A Gose (slightly sour wheat beer traditionally made with salt and coriander).  In a non-traditional twist, they derived all of the salt from an unlikely source:  the Japanese salt plum or “Umeboshi”.  Umeboshi are small Japanese plums that have been cured with Red Shiso (an Asian culinary herb, belonging to the mint family) and salt and spend a year fermenting in wooden barrels.  The result is a fruit that is intensely briny with a light sweetness and herbaceous quality.

In the spirit of collaboration different components of the beer were brewed at each of the participating breweries.  Fat Head’s grew up the sour wort used to give the beer it’s tartness, while Breakside supplied the base wort and salt plums. The finished beer is incredibly refreshing and complex.  It’s a “Gateway Sour” with a moderate body and slightly spicy finish, so let’s drink up!

We’ll be tapping into “Juggling Plums” - 5% ABV, along with 2 additional draft offerings from Breakside & Fat Head’s and brewery staff will be in attendance, for a night not to be missed!

ADDITIONAL DRAFTS:
Breakside “Amuse” Belgian Style Session Ale, 5% ABV
Breakside “Salted Caramel” Stout, 6.7% ABV
Fat Head’s “Headhunter” IPA, 7.5% ABV
Fat Head’s “Ultra” Pilsner ?% ABV
