TUES, SEPT. 23RD from 6-9PM We tap into the latest release from Fish Brewing Company’s Reel Ales series, “Starfish” Imperial Red.  Born in Head Brewer Tony Powell’s home brewery, this West Coast Style Imperial Red Ale is a hearty celebration of the brewing art. Almost welcoming you, four hops impart floral, citrus and sprucy Northwest notes to open the festivities. Then, seven malts and flaked barley dance happily across your palate. In the finish Starfish waves a crisply fond farewell. Convivially forthright without cloying agendas, Starfish is like time well spent with your future best friend, 7.5% ABV, 63 IBUs.

We’ll also be pouring:

Leavenworth Okotoberfest
Released in celebration of autumn’s arrival, Oktoberfest is a medium-bodied bier crafted in the Leavenworth tradition. This richly amber seasonal owes its smooth, malty flavor to a large percentage of Munich malt. In the classic German tradition, we add both noble Tettnanger and imported Tradition hops for an authentic Oktoberfest hop aroma, 5.5% ABV, 25 IBUs

& Fish Tale Organic IPA
Gold Medal, English-style India Pale Ale category:

Fish Tale Organic India Pale Ale is a medium-bodied beer with a rich golden color. The organic pale and crystal malts lay down a firm malt body. This provides the backbone for an assertive hop profile featuring organic Pacific Gem. The moment the Mighty Fish Brewers sampled this pungent and resinous New Zealand hop, they knew it would be perfect for their Organic I.P.A. The result: A Cascadian treasure.
6.7% ABV, 42 IBUs

THURS, SEPT. 11TH from 5-8PM Local Rep. Kevin Hood & Cidermakers Matt & Ian of Two Towns Ciderhouse, will be in-house with two of their latest draft creations:

French Cider:
This French style cider, made using all traditional French cider apples, including Medialel D’or, Muscadet de Bernay and Muscadet de Lense, is slow fermented using a processes called keeving. Starting with fully ripened bittersweet fruit, the apples are sweated, crushed and pressed, then the juice is fermented, using the natural yeast from the apple skins. The keeving process removes the majority of the nutrients for the yeast and thus greatly prolongs the very slow fermentation for up to one year. When finished, this cider is rich, thick and brimming with overripe apple aromas.

Brett/Lacto Cider:
This single varietal Newtown Pippin cider is a spontaneous kind of cider, with a bone dry complex and funky wild taste. Made with wild yeast from the skins of apples, this cider is fermented in Chardonnay barrels. After primary fermentation Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus were added to the barrels to carry out a secondary fermentation for over 1 year. This brett-y cider is sure to please any sour beer lover!

They will also be sampling from bottles of the following:

The Brightcider - Their Flagship cider. Craft cider made with 100% NW ingredients. 6% ABV

The Bad Apple - A Cult favorite. A complex cider fermented with local meadowfoam honey and aged on brandy-cured Oregon white oak. 10.5% ABV

Made Marion - Made Marion is a marionberry infused hard cider. Marionberries are a variety of blackberry originally bred for Marion County farmers in OR. Made Marion is produced using all Oregon grown marionberries and fresh NW apple juice. 6.9% ABV

Rhubarbarian - Rhubarbarian is a tangy hard cider made with northwest grown rhubarb. 6.9% ABV

WED. SEPT. 3RD AT 5:30PM  Join John Harris of Ecliptic Brewing & Shaun O’Sullivan of 21st Amendment Brewery for a delicious pint of their “Astro 21”, collaborative Belgian Summer Ale!

“Astro 21” was brewed with Crisp Maris Otter pale malt and a touch of honey and crystal malt to give the beer a nice orange color. The beer has a biscuit character with caramel sweetness. Hopped with Nugget and Styrian Golding hops for a pleasant bitterness and a nice lime-orange hop flavor. The dry hopping melds with the Belgian yeast spiciness. Crisp and refreshing for the end of Summer.
-6.5% ABV & 38 IBUs

Shaun tells us how the collaboration came together:
As with most, it was over a beer and John said to Shaun, “Hey we should do a collaboration.” Music to my ears as John and I love doing collaborations. I first met John way back in the day before I was involved in the brewing industry at an event during the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado. It was at a cigar and beer event at Wynkoop Brewery when John was working at Full Sail. I walked up to John and Full Sail’s Brewmaster, Jamie Emmerson and they said hello to me and handed me a a cigar and I chatted with them for a bit. Very friendly and just what you would expect in this collaborative craft beer environment.

Don’t miss your chance to try this exciting new beer with the brewer’s themselves!

FRI. SEPT 5th from 6-9PM We host “An Apple for Teacher Finnriver Cider Tasting” as part of our Annual Back to School Cider Showcase.  Enjoy complimentary samples of Finnriver Farm & Cidery’s craft ciders, award-winning port style apple wine and healthy bites of organic, local apples. Limited release Seasonal Ciders from Finnriver will be available on draft and in bottles to go. Fresh, raw apples will be sliced to taste, showcasing culinary varieties sometimes used in cider making. Jana-Daisy will be here to enlighten you about culinary and cider fruit and to guide your palate as you explore a variety of flavors, tastes and generally enjoy the bounty of the fermented (and unfermented) apple. Your teacher would want it this way!

Featured Ciders & Wine:

-Farmstead Cider 6.5% abv (in bottle)

Farmstead Cider is the product of a community collaboration. Each Fall, Finnriver invites neighbors across the north Olympic Peninsula to bring their bruised, bitter or bizarre backyard apples in honor of World Apple Day. This charismatic collection of fruit is then fermented. The result is a semi-sweet, unfiltered, frontier-style cider with rustic origins and a juicy apple character. Farmstead then returns the good will of the community as Finnriver allocates 1o cents on every bottle sale of this blend to local food banks.

-Forest Ginger Cider 6.5% abv (on draft & in bottle)

Forest Ginger Cider, a Fall seasonal blend in the Elijah K. Swan Botanical line tastes like a walk through the orchard and in the woods. A crisp cider with a bright apple core, earthy resinous notes and the warmth of crushed ginger root for a hint of heat. Made from a base of organic Washington and heirloom apples with fir tips harvested from the forest at Finnriver and organic ginger.

-Lavender Black Currant 6.5% abv (draft & bottle)

Lavender Black Currant Cider celebrates the botanical bounty and beauty of the Olympic Peninsula. Savor the lingering tastes of summer with this special limited release cider, also from the Elijah K. Swan Botanical line. A refreshing purple-hued sparkling cider featuring the organic Washington apple fermented and blended with the sweet and tart delights of black currant. Add to that the delicate floral notes of organic Sequim lavender, sourced from Purple Haze farm, and you have a delicious taste of the summer season.

“Elijah K. Swan” Ciders are named after the good folks who sold us the farm (Lige & Kay Christian) and who first planted apple trees here, as well as for the trumpeter swans that overwinter in the valley.  This cider is a tribute to them and to those big white birds who remind us that earth is still wild.

-Port-Style Apple Wine 18.5% abv (in bottle)

Port-Style Apple Wine or Spirited Apple Wine is a richer, dessert offering. The wholesome apple may surprise you with the sultry side revealed in this sumptuous apple wine, handcrafted on Finnriver’s Olympic Peninsula family farm. After fermenting the fruit, the tantalizing sweetness of the apples is captured by fortifying with custom-distilled apple brandy. May it bring you warmth and good cheer!

DOUBLE GOLD, Finnriver Spirited Apple Wine, WA, Seattle Wine Awards, 2013

GOLD, Finnriver Spirited Apple Wine, Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition, 2013
