John Lovegrove’s Sierra Nevada Beer Camp “Blood Shot” Portland Beer Release at Saraveza

Monday, December 31, 2012

photo BloodShot_KegCap_HalfBBL2_zps94e64dcc.pngSun Feb 17th 6pm-10pm John Lovegrove is the type of guy you want to have at your party.  His desire for accomplishment borders between intrigue and absurdity (the good kind).  John is known throughout the Portland area for going to 34 Brew pubs in one day in 2009 and then upping the anty to 50 breweries, beer bars and brewpubs in summer or 2012.  These well documented accomplishments have received attention from Portland’s local weeklies as well as beer media.

Fellow Beer Camper Fletcher Beaudoin will also be present to show off their new brew. Aside from being Partnerships Director of the Institute for Sustainable Solutions at Portland State University he is quite the brewer, “a far better brewer than I could ever hope to be” says Lovegrove. See him in action here.

Sierra Nevada’s Beer Camp is a place where Sierra Nevada fans are invitited to the brewery for a week of in-depth, hands-on learning. Each camp challenges the brewers to make a new and unique beer. We’ll be pouring Lovegrove’s Beer Camp creation and getting his stories on what it is like to brew at one of the world’s best breweries.

Midnight Sun Brewing Visits Saraveza

Monday, December 31, 2012

photo logo_zps4eb1f959.pngTue, Feb 19th 6pm The good folks at Midnight Sun Brewing Co are stopping by for a small tap takeover.

“Obliteration IX” Rye IIPA
Brewed with Citra & Saaz hops and coming in at 80 IBUs, this Rye IIPA evokes floral, tropical and citrus notes.

“Arctic Devil” Barley Wine
English-style barley wine. Though the recipe and process for Arctic Devil have evolved over the years, it is brewed once a year then aged in oak barrels for several months before the entire batch is blended, bottled and released.

“Panty Peeler” Belgian Tripel
Curacao (bitter) orange peel and coriander create a beautiful yet bolder tripel by infusing color, citrus and spice. Belgian yeast adds playful character. Bottle conditioning assures a perfectly heady experience.

Saraveza’s kitchen will be featuring three rich, delicious appetizers to be paired with the featured brews… and yes that does include bacon.

MSBC peeps will be in house with give aways, circulating, serving samples and chatting with guests about their exceptional brews.

Stop by, say “hi,” have some food, drink a brew!
