Saturday, October 6th, 6PM: As many of you are aware, one of Portland’s (and the rest of anywhere’s) finest brewers, Hair of the Dog’s Alan Sprints, was invited to participate in a special collaboration with world-class Belgian brewery, DeProef, this year. The result of this meeting has been the delightfully round and layered Flemish-Style Sour Red that is “Flanders Fred,” which made a limited run here in Portland with bottles and even harder to find draught pours for the pleasantly pleased palates of the HOD faithful.
“Flanders Fred” is a blend of HOD’s classic strong golden ale, “Fred” (named in honor of Portland’s own venerable “Dean of American Beer Writers,” Fred Eckhardt), and a special “Publican’s Cuvée” from Bockor (released only for special events such as this). The outcome is something not to be missed and thanks to our friend, Tim Ensign and his booming new brand management company, Powered By Yeast, this evening’s festivities will not only showcase “Flanders Fred” on tap, but also “Fred” and the “Publican’s Cuvée”. This will allow guests to taste the base components and create their own versions of this beautiful blend themselves.
...
If that’s not enough, the newly luxurious Bad Habit Room is putting an additional spin on this event with the rare opportunity for guests to purchase 4oz pours from very special vintage Hair of the Dog bottles from over the years. That’s right, folks, we’re pulling up some of Sarah’s special bottles from the cellar and my oh my, are they in prime condition for an indulgent quaffing…
So, please join us for what’s sure to be a very special evening in what’s become quite an elegant space (even if it does have the heart of a jezebel)…our Bad Habit Room. See you there.

Friday, September 21st, 7PM: It’s that time of year again and craft ciders are filling glasses just as students are filling classes!
This year has introduced us to some new faces in the Craft Cider Scene, and we’ll have one of these local buzz-worthy artisans here in our friend, Nat West of Reverend Nat’s Hard Ciders! We’ll have some of Nat’s delicious readily available offerings, such as his Revival, Hopricot, & Ginger ciders, as well as a special sneak preview tasting of his Winter Seasonal, Providence Traditional New England. According to Nat, it’s “a bit like a mulled cider, made with cinnamon, nutmeg, fermented with LOTS of raisins and brown sugar, sitting on oak for a few months.”
Additionally, we’ll have a special rare appearance from the land of the Great Lakes (Michigan Specifically), as friend of Saraveza, Gregory Hall of Virtue Ciders will be here with a rare opportunity for cider enthusiasts as well…
Finally, as a special treat, our very own Sugar Pimp will have delectable Apple Turnovers for pairing as well! See you Friday!
